Dear Festival Teachers,
We have opened registration for Festival 2020. There are a few things you will need to do to prepare!
1. Make sure you know your Teacher Number -- it will need to be on all your communications with me, just so I keep everyone's students attached to the right teacher! New Festival teachers, please check with me if I have not yet assigned you a number (or if I have assigned you one but you've forgotten it).
2. Returning teachers should attempt to log on to the NFMC online system, check their lists of students, add any new students (full names INCLUDING MIDDLE, and birthdates), and make note of any students who have aged out of Festival, gone off to college, etc., and notify me if you can't get in the system (they did a weird security update and some folks are having problems), if you have students that need to be removed from your studio list, if you are having problems adding new students. I will be sending revised instructions for accessing the old system in case you have forgotten the process or you have fallen victim to the Java security upgrade.
If you take care of the housekeeping early in this process, we will have fewer issues on December 14 when all our data is dumped to the new system and they decommission the old one.
I advise everyone to keep old students on their lists unless they have actually aged out; unaffiliated/archived students may not be transferred over to the new system, which means their history will be wiped out if they come back, and we would have to start from scratch from my spreadsheets to rebuild their histories!
3. Make sure you are ready with all your data to register as early as possible. I will be able to fix minor issues after the system conversion, but adding new registrations after December 7 will probably not be possible. And they have told me that starting December 14, I will not have access to the system for a week or two -- either the old system or the new. So even I will be locked out while they do the move and system checks.
